Certaines boutiques au Japon n'ont pas respecté la date de sortie de WKC donc certains chanceux ont pu mettre leurs mains sur une copie du jeu quelques jours à l'avance

News blu-ray. Bon voilà le seul territoire sur lequel j'avais encore des doutes au sujet du blu-ray (le succès du blu-ray au japon et aux Us ne faisant plus de doute), l'Europe commence lui aussi de montrer que le blu-ray est un succès avec l'UK:

Business Week has an interesting article up today on the cost of manufacturing PS3. Apparently, Business Week spoke to iSupply to determine how much it costs Sony to make a PS3. When the PS3 launched in the USA, iSupply said that the 60 Gig ($600) PS3 cost $840 to make. Retailers buy products cheaper than ordinary people do, to make money on the markup, so it’s entirely possible that on the 60 gig model Sony was losing as much as $300 per PS3, though ~$270 is more likely. At any rate, in 2007, iSupply estimated that the 60 gig PS3 cost $805 to make, when retailers were likely buying it for $475 or so to sell to gamers at $500. The 80 gig model had been introduced to offset that increase in losses per PS3 as the channel was cleared of the original model.
As of today though, in late 2008, iSupply estimates that the $400 PS3 costs $448 to make. Retailers likely buy the system at $360 to $380, putting the losses at under $100 per PS3 sold in the USA. Depending on where the components of the PS3 are made, the losses are either greater or less due to the currency exchange rate between the strong Yen and other currencies. In 2007 for instance, selling a PS3 to a Gamestop for $370 would bring in 42,250 Yen. Right now, selling a PS3 to a Gamestop for $370 would only bring in about 33,300 Yen. So if the cost of making PS3 is $448 at the current exchange rate, Sony is only losing about $100 per system sold in the USA when the current rate in the Yen valuation is added to the normal loss, instead of simply $370-$448. However, Sony’s production prices were likely set to when the dollar still bought 115 Yen. So instead of PS3 costing 40,320 Yen to make ($448 * 90 Yen/Dollar) it’s likely a case of PS3 costs equaling $448 * 115 Yen to make – 51,520 Yen. If that is the case, the situation is not as good, because Sony can only sell the $400 PS3s (retailer price of $370 * 90) for 33,300 Yen. If this is the true scenario, then the loss per PS3 sold to retail is 18,220 Yen in the USA, which is $202. In reality though, Sony has likely made some adjustments in where it manufactures goods to compensate for the currency changes, in which case ~$150 lost per PS3 serves as a compromise between the iSupply figure which likely does not account for the weak dollar compared to when Sony bought the components en masse, and the $202 figure which assumes Sony did nothing to respond to the currency changes.
Another interesting part to all of this is Europe. PS3 sells for $560 or so in Europe (outside the UK) at the current exchange rate. If the cost of making a PS3 for Europe was the same as the USA, and the exchange rates hadn’t changed, Sony probably would be making a profit, as selling a PS3 to a Gamestop in Ireland for 360 Euros would bring in $504, which is more than the $448 production cost cited above to make a PS3. However, with the extra taxes, and costs of translating Playstation 3 products into other languages and different electrical currencies, whatever profit margin may have been possible is at least somewhat reduced. The real issue though is the Yen. At this time last year, 100 Yen bought only 6/10 of a Euro. Today, 100 Yen buys about 8/10 of a Euro. In other words, it takes more Euros for Sony to get the same amount of Yen revenue on PS3. So if the current model of PS3 costs $448 * 115 Yen to make because production began last year, Sony has to get 51,520 Yen per PS3 in countries with the Euro. However, at the exchange current rate, if we assume that PS3s made for Europe cost roughly the same as PS3s made for the USA, Sony gets ~360 Euro * 126 Yen/Euro for each PS3 sold to an Irish Gamestop which is only 45,360 Yen per PS3. Again, the actual costs are likely different because of what is in a European PS3 vs. an American PS3, and Sony likely has acted on currency changes by moving or altering production of PS3 components to shave the losses.
Overall though, costs of making a PS3 are dropping rapidly, and if the currency exchange rates correct to their usual levels anytime soon, Sony will be making money on each PS3 sold. iSupply estimates that Sony will be profitable on each PS3 sold in 2009, and it certainly looks possible in mainland Europe in a few months, though the USA and UK will take a bit longer.

Sony seems to feel the same way with the release of their latest update to PlayStation Home.
According to the official Asian PlayStation website, Sony has unveiled its Christmas update for the online social platform, adding snow-filed environments, a Christmas tree in the central plaza and of course, item giveaways that anyone should be excited to receive.

Microsoft's Xbox LIVE Arcade title Braid has taken a good portion of the industry by storm, picking up awards left and right, including one at this year’s Spike TV Video Game Awards.
Shifting 55,000 copies in its first week alone, Braid has garnered some serious attention and left many onlookers curious as to the possibility of it eventually making its way to the PlayStation Store.
Speaking in light of the delayed release of the PC version, developer Jonathan Blow hinted that a PlayStation 3 release down the road isn't completely out of the question, depending on Sony's interest in the title.
"[As] I’ve mentioned before, a PS3 version a little later on remains a possibility (though again, this depends on whether Sony is interested in the game)."

Blitz Games CTO Andrew Oliver claims that, to support the technology, the PS3 requires only a “BIOS upgrade”, something which MTBS suggests may be unique to the PS3.
Blitz Games unveiled their 3D middleware technology for the first time earlier this month, where it was demonstrated on both the Xbox 360 and PS3.
The company says that it's able to "replicate the full HD 3D experience" seen in 3D theatres, and predicts a rise in popularity for 3D televisions.
"Spread the word. 3D gaming on console is coming and we license the tech," says Oliver in the MTBS article.

En attendant les jeux en vraie 3D, quelques news PS3 qui m'ont marqué
Aux GameTrailers Game of the Year Awards 2008, la PS3 a été à l'honneur : LittleBigPlanet élu meilleure nouvelle franchise et jeu le plus innovateur de l'année ! Et l'exclu Resistance 2 a été déclaré meilleur FPS de 2008 ! Je ferais un récap dans le topic "news jeux vidéo" quand toute les catégories seront passés.

Voila on crache sur la bêta du Home, parce que c'est a la mode de cracher sur le méchant Sony, Microsoft a son système de gamertag homophobe depuis le début et tout le monde s'en fout.
Et tant que j'y suis je vais parler un peu du Home. Sur le PSStore HK (et sûrement sur le japonais) il y a le pack "Namco Museum Beta" à télécharger pour jouer aux bornes Namco (Pac Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, Xevious) dans la salle de jeux du Home Jap ou HK. Les jeux ne sont pas complets c'est juste des démos de 2 stages jouables pour chaque jeu. On peut heureusement lancer cette compil à partir du menu PS3 (pas besoin d'aller sur le Home pour y jouer). Voila c'est pas grand chose, juste une démo d'une nouvelle compil d'oldies namco... Mais c'est quand même la 1ere application (hors Sony) a être compatible avec le Home. Un truc marrant à voir sur le Home jap (ou hk) c'est le monument dédié au Home qui trône au milieu de la place ^^ Et j'ai vu une affiche qui annonce des changements dans le Home suivent les saisons ou les évènements (pour noël par exemple)
Et je vais un peu parler du Home US, le "Central Plaza" a changé depuis la bêta fermée, il moins "grande ville". Le truc musical bidon a était remplacé par le Listen@Home. Le "Bowling Alley" de dehors le bâtiment n'est plus pareil qu'a bêta fermé, mais a l'intérieur c'est le même (et le même que le Home euro). Le Hall (c'est les magasins) a l'intérieur c'est aussi le mm qu'en Europe. Le Home Theatre est pareil qu'a la bêta fermé (une seule salle de cinéma, alors qu'en Europe on en a plusieurs). Et j'ai enfin pu jouer au jeu "Saucer Pop" au-dessus des bassins ^^ Alors, le plus important, j'ai enfin comprit comment aller dans les espaces "Jeux". Pour le moment il y a que "Far Cry 2" et "Uncharted". Il faut passer par la carte et attendre 3 plombes pour que les icônes des jeux daignent s'afficher... Par contre il n'y a toujours pas l'île Red Bull et c'est bien dommage, ça avait l'air vraiment sympa.
Donc, j'ai était faire un tour au Sully's Bar (l'espace "Uncharted"), c'est sympa on retrouve bien l'ambiance du jeu. Il y a 3 bornes d'arcades "Mercenary Madness" ou j'ai attendu 30 mn mon tour pour jouer, en gros c'est un jeu de plates formes bien sympa, fait à l'ancienne avec de gros pixels, ça me fait penser un peu a pitfall, on reste dans l'ambiance exotique d'Uncharted ^^ Il y a 3 pièces fermé par des espèces de digicodes "Door Keypad" j'ai pas capté qu'est ce qu'il fallais faire, et j'ai été faire un tour sur le web pour voir si des mecs en parlais. En fait ça sert à débloquer d'autres salles dans l'espace Uncharted, c'est un peu con comme système... Si vous voulez la solution :

Pour l'espace "Far Cry 2" c'est pas mal comme décors, mais il y a pas de mini-jeux (ou alors je les ai pas vu) mais il y a des dossiers sur des persos du jeu et une carte à consulter, moi, je m'en foutais un peu, vu que j'ai pas le jeu "Far Cry 2"
Voila, si vous avez la PS3 et que vous n'avez pas encore été faire un tour sur le Home US, allez-y ! Vous verrez les "espaces" dédiés aux jeux. Ca laisse vraiment présager du bon. Espérons que les éditeurs feront vivre le Home en créant pleins d'espaces comme ça.

Aux GameTrailers Game of the Year Awards 2008, la PS3 a été à l'honneur : LittleBigPlanet élu meilleure nouvelle franchise et jeu le plus innovateur de l'année ! Et l'exclu Resistance 2 a été déclaré meilleur FPS de 2008 ! Je ferais un récap dans le topic "news jeux vidéo" quand toute les catégories seront passés.

Le Home est assexué et laïque... A l'extrême.
Un article publié sur le site du San Francisco Chronicles fait état d'une nouvelle censure abusive dans le PlayStation Home. Celle-ci s'effectuerait via un filtrage clairement abusif de certains mots. En effet, un utilisateur voulant créer un club "gay/straight alliance" (alliance gay/hétéro) s'est aperçu que les mots "gay", "lesbian" et bisexual" étaient tout simplement refusés. Le problème fût rapidement rapporté aux community managers de Sony. Etant donné qu'à l'époque, il s'agissait encore de la bêta fermée, le dit utilisateur a supposé que ce serait corrigé lors de la mise à disposition au monde entier. Pourtant, lorsque ce jour est arrivé, le 11 décembre, rien n'avait changé. Pire encore, il a été constaté aussi que d'autres mots tels que "Jew" (juif), ou "Christ" étaient eux aussi bannis. La bêtise atteignant son apogée avec l'impossibilité d'écrire un simple "Hello" à cause de sa similitude avec "Hell" (enfer). Décidément, avec le précédent de LittleBigPlanet, Sony et la modération, ce n'est pas encore ça.
Pour se justifier, Sony se cache derrière le fait qu'il s'agit encore d'une bêta, et que ce sera bien entendu corrigé prochainement. Mais bêta ou pas, l'excuse est bien faible et n'explique en aucune manière comment l'utilisation de ce qui a tout l'air d'être un système archaïque de modération automatique peut, encore aujourd'hui, laisser cours à ce que d'aucuns qualifient déjà de discrimination, aussi bien sexuelle que religieuse. On peut comprendre que Sony soit frileux sur de tels sujets, mais il serait peut-être temps de faire plancher les ingénieurs sur un système un peu plus moderne et pertinent pour éviter les dérapages sans empêcher tout un chacun de s'exprimer. Déjà que sans micro et sans clavier, c'est difficile...

Voila on crache sur la bêta du Home, parce que c'est a la mode de cracher sur le méchant Sony, Microsoft a son système de gamertag homophobe depuis le début et tout le monde s'en fout.
Et tant que j'y suis je vais parler un peu du Home. Sur le PSStore HK (et sûrement sur le japonais) il y a le pack "Namco Museum Beta" à télécharger pour jouer aux bornes Namco (Pac Man, Dig Dug, Galaga, Xevious) dans la salle de jeux du Home Jap ou HK. Avec un litre de tipp-ex, ça peut l'faire.
Et puis en blanc, ça évitera de voir l'énorme quantité de poussière qui s'accumule sur la coque noire avec l'électricité statique.
